Thirteen Murders in a Week: Israel's Pandering Police Has Lost the Plot

There were 13 homicides in Israel in the past week, and 127 in the year to date. The writing, as everyone knows, was on the wall.

The person who appointed a convicted criminal, Itamar Ben-Gvir, to head the National Security Ministry, which is in charge of the police, bears direct responsibility for the national failure in the war on crime.

Residents are afraid to leave their homes, and the criminals have imposed a reign of terror on the public.

Domestic violence is also on the rise. Over the past few days, a 48-year-old woman from Bat Yam was stabbed to death by her partner, who afterward leaped to his death; a woman in Modi'in killed her son and then herself; a man is suspected of strangling his mother to death in the West Bank. Before that, a man killed his former partner and then died by suicide on a kibbutz in the north.

And on Thursday night, a mob of Beitar Jerusalem soccer fans attacked two Arab bus drivers, but the police have not yet managed to arrest anyone. The police have lost control, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is struck dumb.

Israel Arming ISIS-affiliated Militia in Gaza, Ex-defense Chief Claims; Netanyahu: Fighting Hamas 'In Various Ways’

Satellite images and videos posted online in recent weeks show that a new armed Palestinian militia has expanded its presence in southern Gaza, operating inside an area under the direct control of the Israel Defense Forces.

Last month, Haaretz revealed the activities of a group calling itself the "Anti-Terror Service," operating in eastern Rafah. The group is reportedly led by Yasser Abu Shabab, a Rafah resident from a Bedouin family, known locally for his involvement in criminal activity and the looting of humanitarian aid late last year.

Sources in Gaza claim the group consists of roughly 100 armed men who operate with the tacit approval of the IDF. When asked for comment last week, an IDF spokesperson declined to respond to these claims.

Israel arming ISIS-affiliated militia in Gaza, ex-defense chief claims; Netanyahu: Fighting Hamas 'in various ways'

Israel is providing weapons to a Salafi group in the Gaza Strip affiliated with ISIS, Opposition MK and former Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman said Thursday.

Responding to the allegations, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said that "Israel is working to defeat Hamas in various ways, on the recommendation of all heads of the security establishment."

In an interview with Kan Bet public radio, Lieberman said that, similar to how Netanyahu propped up Hamas as a counterweight to the PA, he is now helping establish a new armed force as a counterweight to Hamas.

"The Hamasha clan are in essence lawless criminals who in recent years wanted to give themselves an ideological angle or spin, so they became Salafi [jihadists] and began identifying with ISIS," the lawmaker said.

Israel is providing this clan with light weapons and assault rifles, Lieberman alleged, adding that, "Ultimately, these weapons will be turned against us."

Dockworkers in southern France block military shipment to Israel

Workers at a port in southern France are blocking a shipment of 14 tons of military equipment to Israel, their union said on Thursday. According to the General Confederation of Labour, the workers refuse to participate in "the ongoing genocide being perpetrated by the Israeli government."

The cargo, destined for the Israeli port of Haifa, is said to consist of machine gun parts manufactured by a company in the southern city of Marseille, which the CGT says are being used by the Israeli military against the Palestinian population. The union said the container has been located and set aside at the port of Fos-sur-Mer near Marseille.

The French Defence Ministry said Israel was contractually obliged to re-export the military equipment and is not allowed to use the components itself, according to the broadcaster France Info.
